Former All-Star Isaiah Thomas rips media for coverage of Brett Favre scandal

Last week, in the wake of the bombshell report that revealed text messages sent between Hall of Fame quarterback Brett Favre and then-Mississippi Republican Governor Phil Bryant seemingly showing their collaboration on a welfare scheme, some former professional athletes spoke out to blast the former Green Bay Packers legend. Among them was Hall of Fame tight end Shannon Sharpe, who called Favre a "sleazeball."

On Wednesday, former NBA All-Star Isaiah Thomas took to Twitter to give his take on the scandal as well. The 33-year-old bashed not only Favre, but seemed to take a jab at a perceived lack of media coverage on the situation.

The recently revealed texts show that Favre, Bryant, Nancy New, John Davis and others were working together to use state welfare money to build a new volleyball center for Southern Miss, where Favre was a standout quarterback from 1987 to 1990. The group reportedly "worked together to channel at least $5 million of the state’s welfare funds to build a new volleyball stadium at the University of Southern Mississippi, where Favre’s daughter played the sport. Favre received most of the credit for raising funds to construct the facility."

The three-time MVP had received a $1.1 million welfare contract in order to promote the program.

Thomas played 22 games last season between the Charlotte Hornets, Los Angeles Lakers and Dallas Mavericks. It was reported over the summer that the Hornets had shown interest in potentially re-signing the lefty, but he is currently still a free agent.
