Walters Declines Out-of-State Offer in Favor of Hometown Business

JAMESTOWN, ND. (Knight Club) – Orriginals, the custom apparel embroidery and screen printing business in downtown Jamestown, announced today that it has secured the rights to use Mason Walters’ “name, image and likeness” on all clothing brands offered by the company.

Walters is a two-time NAIA First Team All-American and the only University of Jamestown basketball player in history to earn back-to-back first team selections. He will also serve as a “promotional ambassador” for Orriginals under the agreement.

Len and Penny Orr of Jamestown have owned and operated Orriginals since 1990. The business was recently acquired by their son Brent Giesler (Danielle). Orriginals is a proud sponsor of Jimmie Athletics.

“As a native of Jamestown and a man of integrity, Mason Walters is a perfect fit for us. Now, Jimmie fans and the entire community can purchase apparel featuring a player we know and love,” said Penny Orr.  “We plan to be a big part of promoting Mason’s brand as he takes to the court again this Fall.”

“Orriginals is the kind of company I am proud to be affiliated with,” said Walters. “Superior people who provide superior customer service and high-quality clothing.  They are also a community-minded company which was very important to me.”

The Orriginals agreement with Walters was facilitated by The Knight Club, the new non-profit “NIL Collective” that has been formed to assist student-athletes at the University of Jamestown.

A unanimous U.S. Supreme Court decision (NCAA v. Alston 2021) last year gave student-athletes the rights (“NIL rights”) to market their name, image and likeness to businesses and charitable organizations.
