LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — One person was killed in a Tuesday morning crash just south of Central City.

Responders were called to the intersection of Highway 14 and L Road just before 8 a.m., according to the Merrick County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities say a 2016 Jeep Patriot was traveling north on the highway when the driver tried to turn left onto L Road, colliding with a southbound 2008 Nissan Frontier pickup.

The Jeep’s driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The Nissan’s driver was flown to a Lincoln hospital after suffering life-threatening injuries.

The sheriff’s office said the Jeep’s driver was wearing a seat belt but the Nissan’s driver was not.

Drugs and alcohol are not considered to be factors in the crash.
