LINCOLN COUNTY, Ky. (FOX 56) — A Somerset man is under medical supervision after being extracted from his vehicle following a crash.
The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office said their units, along with Lincoln County Fire and EMS, were called out to a single-vehicle crash around 8 p.m. Monday at the 9100 block of US 27 South.
Initial investigation by officials revealed a 2009 Lexus sport-utility vehicle operated by Jonathon West of Somerset was traveling southbound at a high rate of speed when he lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle struck an embankment, reentered the roadway, and overturned multiple times.
First responders said West was trapped inside the vehicle following the crash until he was extracted by the Lincoln County Fire Department. He was treated by first responders before being airlifted to the University of Kentucky Trauma Center due to “serious injuries”.
The cause of the collision is unknown at this time, according to authorities, and is being actively investigated.
