Update: ABC-7 sources confirm Bob and Kim Yacone, owners of a local Italian restaurant in Picacho Hills called Forghedaboudit, were involved in this incident.

LAS CRUCES, New Mexico --A woman's body was discovered Sunday night, and when Sheriff's deputies called for backup, things took a dangerous turn.

It happened Sunday around 7:42 p.m. at the 6500 block of Vista del Oro.

Investigators say a young male called asking for help for a female resident. When deputies arrived, they say they found a female dead at the scene.

According to investigators, they made contact with an older male in the home who was armed. Investigators say shots were exchanged between the male and arriving deputies.

Investigators say the man was hit and taken to the hospital, but his condition is unknown at this time.

According to investigators, there were no other injuries, and the incident stemmed from a long-standing domestic dispute at the home.

Sheriff's deputies will have a news conference Tuesday, September 20th, at around 2:00 p.m. This is a developing story but count on ABC 7 to keep you updated.
