Ottumwa resident arrested following traffic stop

Mt. Pleasant, IA-  The Henry County Sheriff’s Office has announced the arrests of an Ottumwa resident as the result of a traffic stop.

According to a news release, on Wednesday, September 14th, at about 10:15 PM, Henry County Deputies conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on US Highway 34 in Mount Pleasant on a vehicle for a traffic violation.

Upon speaking with the driver, later identified as 32-year-old Oscar Leyva of Ottumwa, it was determined that he had a suspended driving status through the State of Iowa.

The vehicle was also occupied by two passengers, later identified as 27-year-old Jessica Jasso and 24-year-old Deserae Ramirez, both of Ottumwa.

Upon further investigation, deputies conducted a search of the vehicle and located amounts of Methamphetamine, Marijuana, and Drug Paraphernalia.

Ramirez was arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd or subsequent offense, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Possession of Contraband in a Correctional Facility.

Leyva was issued a summons for driving under suspension, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and was cited for speeding.

Jasso was also issued a summons for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
