Mineral Springs man arrested following traffic stop

Howard County Sheriff’s deputies say a traffic stop on Highway 355 has led to the arrest of a Mineral Springs resident.  A 43-year-old black male, Ronald Alexander was arrested earlier this month by deputies Jake Eudy and Colt Kuykednall.  Police reports said the deputies observed a vehicle, driven by Alexander, traveling nearly 20 miles per hour over the posted speed limit.  In addition to the speeding, deputies say they also observed Alexander’s vehicle cross the center line twice.  During the traffic stop, deputies say they also observed a firearm in the vehicle’s passenger seat.  Authorities say they confirmed that Alexander was a convicted felon and placed him under arrest.  During the process, deputies say Alexander indicated there was marijuana inside the vehicle, which led deputies to conduct a search and recovered three bags, containing suspected marijuana, from the vehicle’s console, along with a set of digital scales.

Alexander was taken to the Howard County Jail, where he has been charged with felony counts that include Simultaneous Possession of Drugs and Firearms, Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver, and Possession of a Firearm by Certain Persons.
