Northwestern quarterback Ryan Hilinski showed that he can run as well as throw in the first quarter of the Wildcats’ game against Southern Illinois.

Hilinksi couldn’t find anyone on the passing play and instead opted for the run, where he picked up 22 yards.

The 22-yard run set up Northwestern for its first touchdown of the game. Hilinski punched it in from the goal line on fourth down to make it a 7-0 lead for the Wildcats early.

Northwestern is currently tied with Southern Illinois at 7 apiece at the start of the second quarter.

Hilinski is having a solid season so far in 2022. The South Carolina transfer has picked up 749 yards and 4 touchdowns through the first couple of games. He has thrown just one interception so far on the season.
