The Grand Forks County Sheriff’s Office says a Gilby (ND) man faces several charges, including DUI, after fleeing a deputy Thursday night.

At about 8:00 PM, the S-O got a report of a pickup driving aggressively in the 3000 block of 34th Street Northeast in Gilby.

A deputy tried to stop the pickup, but said the vehicle fled and swerved all over the road at approximately 35 miles an hour. The pickup eventually entered a ditch and got stuck.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, deputies ordered the man to leave the vehicle. He refused, then deputies broke a window and physically removed him.

The driver was identified as 63-year-old Guy Nelson. He is charged with DUI, preventing arrest and fleeing in a motor vehicle.

The Sheriff’s Office says Nelson was also cited for open container.
