Veteran actor Mark Miller has died at the age of 97. His daughter, actress Penelope Ann Miller, shared the sad news on social media. “My Papa’s beautiful soul left this Earth Sept. 9, 2022,” she tweeted. “He loved deeply and was loved by all who knew him. He touched many lives. He was funny, fun, and always creating. He cherished this life and saw the glass half full! I was blessed to call him my dad.”

Miller starred as Bill Hooten in the 1960-61 television series GUESTWARD HO!, Jim Nash in 1970’s PLEASE DON’T EAT THE DAISIES, and multiple characters in THE NAME OF THE GAME from 1969-71. Daytime fans will remember him as Randy Washburn on GENERAL HOSPITAL in 1965, Howard Jones on BRIGHT PROMISE in 1970, and J.R. Barnett on DAYS OF OUR LIVES from 1975-76.

The actor appeared in films like Blonde in Bondage, The Hook, Ginger in the Morning, and Savannah Smiles. Miller could also be seen making appearances in episodes of numerous classic primetime television series including I SPY, GUNSMOKE, THE ANDY GRIFFITH SHOW, ALFRED HITCHCOCK PRESENTS, THE TWILIGHT ZONE, I DREAM OF JEANNIE, THAT GIRL, ADAM-12, EMERGENCY!, THE WALTONS, and THE STREETS OF SAN FRANCISCO.

Later in his career, Miller stepped behind the camera to work as a writer, penning films like Ginger in the Morning and Savannah Smiles as well as episodes of primetime series like THE JEFFERSONS, DIFF’RENT STROKES, NOTHING IS EASY, and THE MUNSTERS TODAY. His final writing credit was co-scripting the 1995 Keanu Reeves film A Walk in the Clouds.

Miller is survived by his four children and six grandchildren. Our thoughts are with all his family and friends during this difficult time.
