'Warzone 2.0' And 'Modern Warfare 2' Feature Awesome In-Game Chat System

'Warzone 2.0' And 'Modern Warfare 2' Feature Awesome In-Game Chat System

The two upcoming CoD titles will feature a cloud-based chat function, which will allow cross-platform friends to chat in-game privately.

Yesterday, thanks to the Call of Duty Next event, CoD fans got a whole bunch of new information about Modern Warfare II, the Warzone sequel (now officially called Warzone 2.0), and Warzone Mobile. MWII players, for example, can look forward to enhanced movement tactics (such as underwater combat), as well as new maps and modes.

Today, the early-access beta for MWII on PlayStation goes live, meaning that anyone who’s preordered the game on PS4 or PS5 will be able to get in on the action. Ahead of that though, CoD news site Charlie INTEL took to Twitter with some exciting news.

“#ModernWarfareII and #Warzone2 have cloud-based in-game chat feature, allowing you to create channels to communicate with invited friends through voice or text. It works across consoles, PC, and mobile,” they wrote.

This might not sound like much at first, but the great thing about this is that any groups of friends playing cross-platform will now have a private in-game chat option to talk together, rather than having to use Discord or another service, or be stuck in the main voice chat with all other players. This is bound to be more of a game-changer to some rather than others, but it’s really nice that the options for communicating with friends have expanded further.

Modern Warfare II is set to release on 28 October, with Warzone 2.0 following shortly after on 16 November.
