A man was found dead inside a vehicle Wednesday evening in Belmont Shore, and police said it is being investigated as a homicide after discovering he sustained multiple gunshot wounds.

The body was discovered at around 6:19 p.m. in the area of Ocean Boulevard and Corona Avenue after reports of an odor coming from inside a parked vehicle, authorities said.

When officers arrived to the area, they located the man’s body, which show signs of decomposing, seated in the vehicle. Long Beach Fire Department personnel forced their way into the vehicle and determined the man dead.

On Thursday, authorities identified the man as 41-year-old Los Angeles resident Deondre Washington.

Upon further inspection of the body, an investigator for the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office noticed that Washington had sustained multiple gunshot wounds to his upper body and it was determined that he was murdered, authorities said.

Homicide detectives are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the crime and are working to determine a motive, according to the Long Beach Police Department. No suspect information is known at this time, police said.
