We've come a long way since the pandemic began, including the development of vaccines and treatments, but COVID-19 still is with us.

Dr. Mark Schleiss, Director of Pediatric and Infection Diseases at the University of Minnesota Medical School told KCBS Radio's "Ask An Expert" the most important protection is vaccination.

"Not only making sure you're fully immunized, but households with young children — we are seeing a tremendous lack of utilization of vaccines in school-aged children and the rates are disturbing and need to improve," he said. "We need to recognize that children are often the vectors that bring this disease into the household, so I think it is imperative that any household that has children makes sure those children are vaccinated."
