On Friday, September 23rd the Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry in Ellsworth and The Grand in Ellsworth are partnering to help fight hunger in Downeast Maine and hope you will Fill the Grand with non-perishable items!

We all know that many of our friends and neighbors are suffering from food insecurity in Downeast Maine. Unfortunately the rising grocery store prices and high oil prices are making it tougher and tougher for everyone to feed their families and make sure that their homes will be warm this fall and winter!

"The pantry is asking the community to fill every seat in the historic Grand Theater with bags of food and funds to support our mission: ending food insecurity in Hancock County" said Andy Matthews, the Loaves and Fishes Board President.

Loaves and Fishes encourages community organizations, business and residents to do food and fund drives within their groups, workplaces and neighborhoods to help with the drive. The food and funds will go directly to support Hancock County families.

Monetary donations are welcome and in fact donor dollars go further since Loaves and Fishes can purchase food through partners at a competitive price. Individuals can sponsor a bag for $25.00 which will fill one seat in The Grand. Those wanting to sponsor a bag through a financial donation can do it online. You can also drop off nonperishable food and donations at The Grand from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday, September 23rd.
