Cat Sitting on Sleeping Dog's Belly in Street Leaves Internet in Hysterics

A video of a dog and cat relaxing together has gone viral on TikTok, with more than 300,000 likes.

In the 28-second video, posted by Carlo Puri 1, @carlopuri1, a dog can be seen relaxing on its back, legs in the air, while a cat lies neatly on its stomach. Another cat sits close to the dog, staring at the camera, and another dog looks enviously onwards.

TikToker SeaFred commented: "It's the warmest spot lol the other cat is patiently waiting his turn."

The video is entitled "La Bella Vita," which means "the beautiful life" in Italian, and in previous videos, the same cat can be seen sitting on the back of the same dog, fluffing up its fur.

A classic stereotype exists that cats and dogs are mortal enemies. However, we now know this is not true, with many adorable videos of the two species playing together.

The American Kennel Club (AKC) says that, while not all cats and dogs will get on, it is possible to take steps to maximize the chances that they will.

The AKC says: "Puppies that were socialized with cats will be more comfortable around cats as adults, and the same is true for kittens and dogs. And some dog breeds are well suited to life with a cat and a few breeds simply aren't.

"But for most breeds, if the dog is taught how to interact with the cat and the cat has escape zones, the two species can become fast friends or at the very least live together in peace.

"When adding a new dog or cat to your household, don't put the two pets together and expect them to work their relationship out on their own. Instead, keep them apart for at least the first few days so they can experience each other's sounds and smells before they interact."

TikToker annemariestanley7 commented on the post, "Cats don't care about personal space," while Risingsun wrote, "That dog knows the cat laws of not moving!"

HeatherPsyD commented, "This is too cute!!! Never seen this before. I wonder if the pup knows he can't move until kitty is ready?"

Jack black216 wrote, "if a picture is worth a thousand words....this.....is worth a trillion...I'm speechless at the same time."
