Austin Chambers set to host candidate forums ahead of November elections

AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- Election season is here, and the Greater Austin Chamber of Commerce and other area Chambers are partnering to provide candidate forums ahead of November's city elections.

The candidate forums for the mayoral candidates and each of the five City Council districts up for election are being presented as a partnership between the Greater Austin, Austin LGBT, Greater Austin Hispanic, Greater Austin Asian, Greater Austin Black, and the Austin Young Chambers of Commerce.

Monday marks the first event in the series, with the candidates vying to be Austin's next mayor set to participate. The event will get underway at 6:30 p.m. at the Austin Central Library at 710 West Cesar Chavez.

Each of the city council districts will have its own forum as well.

District 1: Thursday, October 6 at 6:30 p.m. at ACC Eastview Campus (3401 Webberville Rd.)
District 3: Tuesday, October 18 at 5:30 p.m. at St. Edward’s University (3001 S. Congress Ave.)
District 5: Wednesday, Sept. 21 at 5:30 p.m. at Ann Richards School for Women Leaders (2309 Panther Trail)
District 8: Friday, Sept. 23 at 5:30 p.m. at Clint Small Middle School (4801 Monterey Oaks Blvd)
District 9: Friday, Sept. 30 at 5:30 p.m. at ACC Rio Grande (1212 Rio Grande St.)

Early voting begins on Monday, October 24 and Election Day is Tuesday, November 8.

The chambers together sent a candidate questionnaire to every candidate on the ballot and will be posting their responses on September 12 on KeepAustinVoting.com. The website will also have resources for voting, additional information on the candidates, and more details about the forums.
