LAS CRUCES, New Mexico -- New Mexican Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham announced Friday that Las Cruces is getting $8.75 million as a part of a larger $41 million investment to recruit over 300 law enforcement across the state.

The money will allow the Las Cruces Police Department to bring in an additional 67 officers.

In total the funding will help recruit 317 officers across New Mexico.

"Every New Mexican deserves to feel safe in their community, to know that law enforcement is coming when they need help - that's why we are continuing our priority investments in public safety, funding new officers that will make a real difference in communities both small and large across the state," said Governor Lujan Grisham in a statement.
