Nostalgia has been influencing the most prominent fashion trends in 2022 and K-Pop group IVE is here to prove it.

Just like corsets, cargo pants, and many other Y2K staples, the Canadian tuxedo has been making the rounds since the beginning of the year with the likes of Bella Hadid donning full-denim looks. The latest stars to deliver a denim-on-denim statement are the members of IVE.

Rising stars on the music front, the girls of IVE are no strangers to sartorial experimentation. And their most recent Instagram post is here to prove they’re always in when it comes to trends. On September 8, the six-member act performed their new single “After LIKE” at Mnet’s music show M Countdown. Of course, they didn’t miss out on the chance to snap an IVE SHOT! for their fans. In the picture, Yujin, Gaeul, Rei, Wonyoung, Liz, and Leeseo pose for the camera in coordinated, head-to-toe denim outfits. The styling is a Y2K extravaganza, showcasing essentials from the aughts including corsets, micro skirts, denim knee boots, and crop tops. IVE, however, added their own spin with faux fur trims on their clothing and accessories like fur chokers, bicep bracelets, earrings, and hairpins.

While denim has been a style mainstay throughout the decades, the reemergence of Y2K has prompted a wave of denim on denim fashion. Bella Hadid, for example, has dived into the trend with several reiterations of the Canadian suit including a dark denim set that she wore to the U.S. Open in New York. Meanwhile, Lil Nas X sported an all-denim fit paired up with custom hybrid shoes that mixed Nike Air Force 1s and Timberland boots.

IVE themselves are masters at the art of wearing denim with a twist. During the promotions of their single “LOVE DIVE,” the members often donned chic ensembles featuring items like denim boots, washed denim dresses, and denim bustiers. In one particular instance, the girls dressed in embroidered and feather trim shorts paired with tapestry corsets by Brooklyn-based designer Kristin Mallison. Now, we don’t know what IVE will bring to the table next, but here’s to hoping for more lessons on how to wear denim in style.
