SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) –After a mild day with sunshine and highs near 70° on Wednesday, we see some much cloudier skies for Thursday with a few showers a possibility, but it is mainly just going to be windy with 15-25 mph southeasterly winds that could gust up to 40 mph or greater.

As we head into tonight, we see those non-severe storms start to move in around 10pm or so and last through most of the overnight and early Friday. May see some heavier downpours with this, but this should stay below severe criteria with just some frequent lightning and thunderstorms. Most of us will be in a lull with windy conditions for the middle part of the day as we start out in the low to mid 50s, but climb into the mid to upper 60s Friday afternoon. Our next line arrives Friday evening, and if that first line comes through later, our severe threat may be a bit lower. However, if that first line arrives on time or early, the severe threat remains higher. The main line will start around 2-4pm and last through the evening before exiting around 10pm-midnight Friday night. An enhanced risk (category 3/5) of severe weather is in places for southeastern areas like Tekamah and Denison, with a slight risk (category 2/5) for most of Siouxland, including the Sioux City area, and then a marginal risk for northwestern Siouxland. Large Hail of up to 2″ in diameter, 60-70 mph wind gusts, flash flooding, and a few tornadoes are all possible from this. Stay with Victor Perez, Ethan Foreman, and Maggie Warren for more updates.

We get a bit of break in the activity Saturday, however, more showers and storms move in Saturday night and Sunday as we remain in the 60s. As of right now, this line looks to stay below severe criteria. The KCAU 9 weather team will update you if anything changes.

A warm up starts to occur later in early next week with highs remain at or slightly below average Monday with some afternoon sunshine. However, a bigger warm up takes place Tuesday and Wednesday with those highs in the upper 70s and a good deal of sunshine. Right now Best of the Class looks mostly dry.

Then highs look to stay warm with more showers and storms possible to close next week with those highs remaining in the mid to upper 70s.
