September 20th AM: Sunny & Hot Friday with some storm chances this weekend

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) — It has been a humid and hot week with some showers and storms at times this week, we are now starting to see more comfortable conditions with temperatures starting out closer to seasonal values in the low to mid 50s, but will get hot again this afternoon with plenty of sunshine and highs in the mid to upper 80s. Looking decent but just a bit warm for those Friday night Football games.

Lows tonight will be warmer once again as we see some clouds as lows only dip into the 60s across the area. That’s ahead of our next storm system with some shower and storm chances ahead for the weekend. With that, there is an isolated risk of severe of weather where some isolated 60 MPH wind gusts, quarter sized hail, or localized flash flooding will be possible from a line from West Point to Salix/Sloan to Cherokee to Spencer and to the southeast. Most areas won’t see a whole lot of rain from this unfortunately as this has tracked much further south, but the best chance of heavier rain nearby will be for areas to Omaha, Denison, and Rockwell City. Temperatures drop from the 80s for highs Saturday to the 60s on Sunday.

More sunshine returns for next week as we see highs in the 70s and lows ranging from the mid 40s at the beginning of the week to the 50s by the end of the week with low humidity and little to no rain chances ahead.
