AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- Police are investigating after a man's death early Sunday morning in the downtown entertainment district.

Austin Police say a man flagged down an officer near East Sixth and Brazos Streets around 2:30 a.m. Sunday morning, asking for medical assistance. The officer noticed the man was bleeding profusely from the stomach.

EMS transported the man, a Black male believed to be in his late 20s or early 30s, to a nearby hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Police say witnesses told them several people were involved in the scene, surrounding an argument between two males that escalated.

Investigators had a fairly large crime scene to work with because the victim was wandering around a large portion of the Sixth Street area, officials said.

There was no immediate word on a suspect, but police believe this is an isolated incident.
