PULASKI COUNTY, Ky. (FOX 56) – The Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office arrested two men after a high-speed pursuit in Pulaski County on Wednesday.

According to the sheriff’s office, detectives saw a suspicious white 2012 Ford F150 and learned the insurance on the truck could not be verified.

After conducting a traffic stop, one of the detectives on the scene spoke to the driver, Gary Voiles, 61, of London. As the identity of Voiles and the passenger, 55-year-old John Carico of Cambridge City, Indiana, Sgt. Patterson arrived on the scene with police K-9, Rocky.

Rocky searched the vehicle and promptly alerted the authorities to the presence of narcotics.

Voiles was promptly removed from the vehicle and authorities tried to remove Carico from the vehicle but his door was locked.

According to the sheriff’s office, Carico proceeded to slide from the passenger seat to the driver’s seat and drive away. While leaving the scene, Carico reportedly hit Patterson and nearly struck Voiles.

Various other law enforcement agencies reportedly joined in the pursuit of Carico, as speeds proceeded to reach over 100 miles per hour. Carico was said to begin driving into a construction zone.

The Somerset Police Department set up stop sticks at various intersections on Kentucky Highway 80 where they were able to successfully deflate Carico’s tire, ending the pursuit.

Carico was promptly removed from the vehicle and detained without further incident.

As law enforcement retraced the path of the pursuit a bag filled with various drugs was found by Somerset police around 50 yards from the original scene of the traffic stop.

Police reportedly seized 741.1 grams of methamphetamine, around 9.8 grams of cocaine, and 102 Gabapentin.
