Mike Strauss of Mike’s BBQ, along with Sidecar Bar & Grille, will be hosting a customer appreciation block party on Saturday, Sept. 10, from noon to 6 p.m.

Set to be held at the corner of 22nd and Christian streets outside of Sidecar, the event is being held as a way for both restaurants to thank customers for their support since the start of the coronavirus pandemic.

“South Philly and Philadelphia as a whole has done so much for us since the pandemic started, continuously supporting us when the future of our restaurants was very uncertain,” Strauss said in a press release. “We decided to do something fun and show how appreciative we are of everyone who has supported us. We’re hoping for a beautiful day, and we expect a really big turnout to come and enjoy pig roast, pizza, burgers, ice cream and more as we wrap up another summer in Philly.”

A wide array of food and drink offerings will be available. Strauss, along with business partners Will Lindsay and Mike Metzger, will be roasting a whole pig and Sidecar will provide burgers, pizza, sausages and other side plates. There will also be sweets courtesy of Small Oven Pastry Shop, various flavors of ice cream from Milk Jawn and ciders via Stockyard Cider Co.

In addition to food, numerous vendors will be on hand selling art, clothing and other products while kids will be able to enjoy a water slide.

Live entertainment will be provided by local band SNACKTIME from 2 to 4 p.m. and DJ Lou Di Marco for the rest of the afternoon.

Tickets are not required for entry, though attendees will be able to purchase food and drink tickets upon arrival.
