After new details about Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie‘s divorce emerged, the Bullet Train star has found himself entagled in more legal drama this week. The Fight Club alum, 58, is attempting to fix a complicated situation— US Weekly reports that the actor is being accused of building faulty homes for victims, survivors and families in need of houses after the devastating effects of Hurricane Katrina.

As many may recall, the Oscar winner and his Make It Right Foundation were sued in 2018 over homes they constructed in New Orleans shortly after the tragic 2005 storm. Now, Pitt has officially reached a $20.5 million settlement, nearly four years later. To rectify this, he is partnering with Global Green.

In a statement made to US Weekly on August 18th, Pitt wrote, “I am incredibly grateful for Global Green’s willingness to step up and provide this important support for the Lower Ninth families.” He continued, “We collaborated in the early days post-Katrina and we are very fortunate to have Global Green’s generous continuing commitment to help address the challenges around these homes and others in need.”

An insider source reportedly told the publication that Pitt originally started working on the project “with the best intentions” helping to raise millions of dollars to build the homes, and they sold for approximately $150,000 each. However, after Pitt gave various day-to-day responsibilities to his foundation, they appeared to deliver less-than-quality living spaces.

Residents of these houses then sued the World War Z star and his associates, US Weekly writes, for “defective design and building practices, breach of contract and fraud, claiming that the homes were poorly built and plagued by a host of issues, including mold and structural damage.”

Pitt wanted to remove himself from the suit, arguing that he should not be the one held responsible for the project’s actual construction, the source allegedly told Us, adding that he eventually found a resolution with Global Green. The aim, they added, is to help provide capital to the homeowners, “promising to find the best solution” to the problem.

A judge still needs to sign off on the settlement, and the remaining funds will be divided among the residents. This, however, depends on the individual quality of the homes. “Hopefully this agreement will allow everyone to look ahead to other opportunities to continue to strengthen this proud community in the future,” the Moneyball star also told the publication.

Pitt and Jolie were revealed as the subjects of an anonymous lawsuit from 2016 this week. The plaintiff (Jolie) alleges that her “then-husband” assaulted her on a private plane. As reported by Puck, “several years ago,” the Maleficent actress, 47, told an FBI agent that her ex-husband “physically and verbally assaulted” her and their children when they were aboard a plane.

According to the agent’s notes at the time, Pitt allegedly grabbed Jolie’s shoulders, moved her to the back of the plane and began shouting things at her such as, “You’re f—g up this family.” Jolie reportedly added that on this very same flight, she sustained injuries on her elbow from another physical altercation with Pitt, and alleged that he was drunk at the time, even pouring beer on her as well. Pitt’s team, however, has denied all of these accusations.
