Oregon Ducks practice observations: Receiver Dont’e Thornton returns

Oregon's quarterbacks throw medicine balls during Friday's practice.

Starting wide receiver Dont’e Thornton is back on the field for Oregon.

Thornton returned to practice, UO’s 13th of fall camp, Friday afternoon at the Hatfield-Dowlin Complex.

The sophomore, who had missed at least Tuesday and Wednesday for unspecified reasons, didn’t appear to have any mobility issues while going through stretching.

Offensive lineman Kawika Rogers, who has been out for several days, attended practice but wasn’t in a jersey or spider pads. The freshman had a noticeable limp.

Interior offensive lineman Jackson Powers-Johnson, outside linebacker Jaden Navarrette and defensive linemen Sua’ava Poti and Maceal Afaese all remained absent.

Offensive lineman Faaope Laloulu and walk-ons Bailey Jaramillo and Charlie Pickard were all limited. Pickard, who has taken second-team reps during camp, didn’t appear to be in pads.

Other observations:

  • The kick returners were Christian Gonzalez, Mar’Keise Irving, Kris Hutson, Sean Dollars, Jordan James, Byron Cardwell Jr., Noah Whittington and Darren Barkins. Punt returners were Seven McGee, Chase Cota and Josh Delgado.
  • Cornerback Darren Barkins is still wearing a protective wrap on his hand.
  • Scouts from the Buffalo Bills and Cincinnati Bengals were in attendance.
