BEDFORD COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) – A Texan lost his life Thursday afternoon following a crash along Route 122 in Bedford County, authorities say.

Virginia State Police say the single-vehicle crash took place just north of Campers Paradise Trail shortly before 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 18.

According to officials, a 2010 Ford Escape was heading south on Route 122 when it ran off the right side of the road, hit an embankment, and overturned.

The driver of the Ford — identified by authorities as 26-year-old Nathanael Elisha Lutz of Waco, Texas — was wearing his seatbelt, but he still died at the scene of the wreck.

Police announced on Friday, Aug. 19 that the investigation into this deadly crash is still ongoing.
