The Hays USD 489 school board will have its annual budget hearing at 6:30 p.m. Monday at the Rockwell Administration Center.

It will be preceded by a revenue neutral hearing. Although the district's local option budget mill levy will be slightly lower than last year, the amount raised by the overall school mill levy will increase because of an increase in the property valuation in the district.

Superintendent Ron Wilson will review isolation and quarantine guidelines for COVID-19 and influenza for the 2022-23 school year.

Doug Williams, Grow Hays executive director, will present information about an ordinance for creating another Rural Housing Incentive District in the city of Hays.

The board will consider approval to auction off the naming rights for the west driveways off of 13th Street and Canterbury to the high school parking lot at the annual USD 489 foundation charity auction.

The board will consider approval of a resolution for a contract relating to the use of the city’s educational sales tax revenues to assist the district in the repayment of bonds for the new high school and related construction projects.

The board also will have first readings on policy changes recommended by the Kansas Association of School Boards and Classified Handbook changes.
