FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif. (KNX) — Animal rescue officials euthanized two ducks found in Fountain Valley park with their bills severed at a Fountain Valley park. Authorities are asking for the public's help to identify who was responsible.

Park officials said their team rushed the first duck, found in Mile Square Park, to the Wetlands and Wildlife Care Center on July 31. They found a second duck at the park in the same condition last weekend, the center's executive director Debbie McGuire added.

The ducks were alive but starving because they could no longer eat.

Veterinarians decided to euthanize the two animals because of the "severity of their wounds." Now, the California Department of Fish and Wildlife and Orange County Animal Control is investigating.

If you see an animal being attacked, call 911. Anyone with information on the two recent duck mutilations can call CalTip at 888-334-2258. If you find an injured bird, please call animal care at (714) 935-6848.
