New Hampshire State Police are trying to find the person responsible for throwing construction debris onto Interstate 293 in Manchester.
Dashcam video from someone driving under the Queen City Bridge on Thursday night shows objects being thrown over the railing onto the interstate below.
At least four vehicles traveling south on I-293 were hit, but no one in the vehicles was injured.
Driver Josh Liedtke said he passed under the bridge around 10:10 p.m. Thursday.
"I heard what sounded like a loud thud, and it sounded like it hit behind me," Liedtke said.
Dashcam footage from Liedtke's car shows two objects being thrown off the bridge onto the interstate below.
"If it wasn't for the speed I was traveling and the angle it was thrown, it looks like it was aimed pretty much right at my windshield," Liedtke said.
The right side of Liedtke's car was scratched, but he said he didn't know exactly what happened until he reviewed the footage.
"Once I realized that somebody had thrown something, I was angry. I was furious," he said. "Like, if that had hit my windshield, I probably could've died."
Police said the objects that were thrown from the bridge under construction include shovels, concrete and 4-foot lengths of rebar that hit three other cars.
"It definitely could've been a lot worse," said state police Lt. Brian Viglione. "Debris and sharp objects flying through the air — there could've been potential for serious injuries."
Police said they are actively investigating the incident.
Anyone with information about the incident or who was traveling on the bridge between 10 and 10:15 p.m. Thursday is asked to Trooper Kyle Foster at 603-223-3785 or mailto:Kyle.B.Foster@dos.nh.gov.
