Burnt body found on South Los Angeles street

LOS ANGELES (KNX) — Firefighters and police said both departments are investigating the death of a person in South Los Angeles whose body they found burnt on the street Friday morning.

A caller reported the fire just after 4 a.m. in the 300 block of W. 88th Street in the Vermont Knolls neighborhood.

When Los Angeles Fire Department crews arrived at the scene, authorities said that flames had already been extinguished.

First responders said they did locate a body that "had been on fire" before it was found, according to a press release.

Officials have not identified the victim's gender or age.
