The Local Lemon, a first-year youth entrepreneurship program through the Callaway Chamber of Commerce and the Missouri women’s Business Center, hosted a ceremony on Thursday where participants received a certificate of completion for their six-week training courses.
Every week has a new topic, and teaches children about business training and entrepreneurship. Tamara Tateosian, Executive Director of the Callaway Chamber of Commerce, says that one of the classes even allowed the students to meet with a commercial banker to pitch their business idea.
In addition to certificates, participants and sponsors cut a ribbon to mark the end of this program and the start of something new. On Saturday, every person in the program will open their own lemonade stand at different locations in Fulton.
“I might start a business or just have another lemonade stand in the future,” said Amelia Snyder, a participant, will open her stand near her mom’s business.
Snyder added that learning how to run a company, set up advertisements, and apply for business loans through this program created a new perspective about the possibilities of business.
