Parents living in the state of Connecticut might be able to expect some extra cash in the mail next week if they applied in time for a tax rebate offered by the state.

The child tax rebate, which was signed into law by Democratic Gov. Ned Lamont after the Connecticut General Assembly authorized it, will give parents $250 for each child they have, up to $750 per family. The checks for these rebate payments will be sent out starting next week, according to NBC Connecticut.

Parents had until July 31 to apply for this rebate payment. To qualify for the rebate, applicants had to be a resident of Connecticut, claim at least one child who was 18 or younger as a dependent on their 2021 federal income tax return, and meet “certain income thresholds,” according to the state’s Department of Revenue Services.

Single filers were eligible for the tax rebate if they made less than or equal to $100,000 annually, while joint filers were eligible if they made $200,000 or less a year. People who make more than the income limit would have their rebate amount decreased by 10% for each $1,000 of income above the income limit, according to the department.
