Akron police say one man is dead and another is in custody after a Friday morning shooting.

Akron Police spokesman Lt. Michael Miller said police were called to Russell Avenue and Boulevard Street not far from the Interstates 76 and 77 interchange around 7:20 a.m. for a reported shooting.

Officers found one man wounded at the scene.

Miller said the man was taken to Akron General Hospital where he died.

The identity of the man has not been released.

Miller said the preliminary investigation indicates that there was a dispute over some property that may have sparked the shooting.

The suspected shooter, Miller said, was taken into custody and is being interviewed.

Investigators are still at the scene and motorists are advised to expect delays and road closures.
