Firefighters extinguish early morning fire at grocery store in Baker

BAKER, La. (BRPROUD) – Multiple fire departments were called to an overnight blaze at a grocery store on Baker Blvd.

Firefighters with the Baker City Fire Department, Baton Rouge Fire Department and Zachary Fire Department all responded to a fire around 2 a.m. at the Baker Boulevard Grocery located at 3306 Baker Blvd.

According to the Baker Fire Department, “Crews made entry in the grocery store through a roll up door.”

Firefighters immediately went to work putting the fire out with the help of two pumpers and one aerial truck.

The fire was under control in around 30 minutes.

Firefighters were able to “contain to the fire to the warehouse part of the store,” according to the Baker City Fire Department.

The Baton Rouge Fire Department provided manpower and the Zachary Fire Department provided rapid intervention crews at the scene.

There were no reported injuries related to this fire.

Fire investigators are still working to figure out the cause of the fire.
