August 18, 2022 | Women's Soccer

OSU notches late goal to secure result

CORVALLIS, Ore. - In the opener, Oregon State kept knocking until the end in a 1-1 draw at Paul Lorenz Field.

Despite conceding in the 28th minute to Eastern Washington's Kalista Kakou, the Beavers kept pressing the Eagles' defense in search of the equalizing tally.

Toward the end of the match with an opportunity to put the game away, the visitors were turned back on a penalty kick that was topped by Hailey Coll

On a counter attack in the contest's waning minutes, Amber Jackson found Caroline Duncan, who sent the ball past the EWU keeper to get things on level terms at 87:16.

McKenna Martinez, one of the Beavers' top offensive threats from 2021, paced OSU with five shots - three of which were on frame. Duncan, Ava Benedetti and Megin Turi all fired two on the Eastern Washington net. As a team, the Beavers sent a barrage of threats toward the Eagle keepers - 13 on goal.

In the full 90, Coll stopped a pair of shots - including the penalty in the 81st to keep the contest a 1-0 affair.

On Sunday, Wyoming will visit Paul Lorenz Field this upcoming Sunday, August 21. Kickoff between the Beavers and Cowgirls is slated for 1 p.m.
