Monsters, terror among upcoming Civic Theatre themes

LAFAYETTE, Ind. − New auditions and performances are coming to Lafayette's Civic Theatre in the coming days.

On Aug. 21 and 22, the youth production of "She Kills Monsters!" will be holding auditions from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the art studio at The Arts Federation building at 638 North Street. High school students ages 13-18 years old are encouraged to audition. Those auditioning will be asked to read sides from the script individually and in small groups.

From 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Aug. 23, "Tour of Terror" auditions will be held at the Civic office, 313 N 5th St. Auditionees will be asked to read a spooky story that will be memorized and should be no more than 5 minutes long. Email amelia@lafayettecivic.org to schedule an audition appointment. Tour of Terror will take place October 28, 29, and 31.

Civic Theatre is also looking for behind-the-scenes volunteers to assist in the Tour of Terror shows. Those interested should email Raquel Lopez at raquel@lafayettecivic.org with "TOUR OF TERROR" in the subject line.

The location of Civic Theatre's MainStage musical production "Lucky Stiff!" has changed. Auditions will now be held from 6 to 8:30 p.m. on Aug. 28 and 29 at Sunnyside Middle School's auditorium, 2500 Cason Street. Attendance is only required for one of the audition dates.

According to the audition information, "Auditionees should prepare 32 bars of a song that is in the style of the show. Please bring sheet music (an accompanist will be provided). You may also bring recorded accompaniment. Please dress comfortably and bring appropriate shoes for a short movement call. Auditionees will be reading sides from the script...Email amelia@lafayettecivic.org to schedule an audition. Audition appointments are strongly encouraged; walk-ins will be seen after all appointments have been completed."
