FLINT (WWJ) - A 23-year-old man was taken into police custody Wednesday evening after leading cops on a dangerous high speed chase through Flint, authorities said.

The Grand Blanc Township Police Department said on social media that officers spotted two vehicles racing at speeds of 100 mph on northbound I-475 in the evening hours of Aug. 17.

When police attempted to pull over the drivers, one man in a Dodge Challenger Hellcat sped off, reaching an estimated speed of 150mph, the department said

Officers called in assistance from the Michigan State Police’s Trooper 3 helicopter to keep sight on the fleeing vehicle.

The helicopter was able to track the Hellcat as it drove throughout Flint, until the vehicle came to a stop.

Its location was relayed to the officers on the ground, who converged at the scene and arrested the suspect.

The 23-year-old from Flint was booked at the Genesee County Jail and charged with two counts of Felony Fleeing and Elude, police confirmed.

The department commended the joint effort to capture the suspect on social media.

“Great teamwork ended this driver's reckless night and no one was injured,” officials said.
