Tippecanoe School Corporation hires Tippecanoe County sheriff’s Deputy Nathan Beever, as its newest school resource officer, on Thursday, Aug. 18, 2022, in Lafayette

LAFAYETTE, Ind. — On Thursday, the Tippecanoe School Corporation announced that it had hired Tippecanoe County Sheriff’s Deputy Nathan Beever, a 10-year veteran of the county law enforcement office, as one of its newest school resource officer.

The position was left vacant earlier this year after Aaron Gilman was promoted to the district’s safety and security manager.

The TSC and the Tippecanoe County Sheriff’s Office work closely to serve the district’s 22 locations and protect the nearly 14,000 students across the district.

“Our SROs do an amazing job of building positive relationships with our Tippecanoe School Corporation staff and students, and I am certain that Deputy Beever will be instrumental in continuing to grow our program in a positive way,” said Bob Goldsmith, Tippecanoe County Sheriff.

“Our SROs are tasked with a lot, but they come to work every day with a smile, work hard, and do all they can to help create a safe and positive learning environment for our teachers and students.”

Beever received a bachelor’s degree from Purdue University, has around 10 years’ worth of experience in law enforcement. He brings a strong desire to mentor youth.

“This is an excellent opportunity to work with students and strengthen the relationship between law enforcement and our school families,” said Beever.

“I’ve coached youth sports for several years and enjoy the positive impact you can have with children. I am looking forward to doing more of that in my new role at TSC.”

Before starting his new role as an SRO, Beever will receive additional SafeSchools training this fall. Once completed, he will join his fellow deputies — Rob Rush, Beth Fraizer, Steven Stonerock and Jason Morgan — as TSC's newest SRO.
