Eagles battle against the Beavers in Corvallis

Eastern Washington earned its first tie against a current Pac-12 team

Kicking off Eastern Washington soccer's first regular season, the match against the Oregon State Beavers was a battle that ended in a 1-1 tie.

Eastern came out in the first half with a tough defense, as Kiara Matson made six saves. In the 28th minute, Maddie Morgan delivered a pass to Kalista Kakou and she punched it in for the first Eagles' goal of the season.

The Beavers pressed for the equalizer, as they generated 11 total shots against Matson in the first and 12 against Kamryn Willoughby in the second half. Both the Beavers and Eagles were not shy of contact. Collectively, three yellow cards were handed out.

Two were given to Oregon St.'s Caroline Dunkin in the 85th minute and Reese Moffatt in the 68th, with one going to Grace Terrill in the 83rd.

 Madison Kem received a chance to put the Eagles up 2-0 with a penalty kick in the 81st minute, but it was saved by OSU goalie, Hailey Coll.

Going into the match, Eastern Washington had a 0-20 record versus Pac-12 teams. They were able to end the streak with the first tie in the regular season.
