For the last couple of months, work on preparing the ground for development at the Gateway Development site in Dixon on South Galena has gone silent. Earlier this year, large equipment was busy out there daily moving earth and working the ground. Now it has become overgrown again.
Dixon Mayor Li Arellano said not to worry. The developers are finalizing the paper work with potential businesses and things should start popping up next year.
As has been the case for this and other projects around Dixon, the mayor and others have been very tight lipped about what businesses may be coming to town. The only clue they give is they will be nationally known brands.
The mayor referred also to the new Starbucks that will soon open as a business to draw customers off I-88. He said these others would do the same thing.
