Lee County Health Department Getting a Rise in the Number of Bat Calls

By Tim Lee Aug 18, 2022 | 9:53 PM

The Lee County Health Department said recently they have had a spike in bat calls recently..

If you find a bat in your home and cannot rule out potential exposure, it should be sent in for rabies testing. For assistance with that, call Lee County Animal Control at 284-3833.

If a person was bitten by a bat; woke up to a bat in a room in which a person was sleeping; physically touched a bat resulting in bare skin contact and being unsure if bitten; you should contact the health department.   Furthermore if someone is in a room with a bat and can’t say for sure whether they were bitten (small child, someone with dementia, someone under the influence of alcohol or drugs), contact the health department at 284-3371 for guidance.
