Syracuse Fire crews responded to a fire Thursday night that engulfed a detached two-car garage near the Lincoln Hill neighborhood of Syracuse.
Firefighters responded to the 100 block of Mooney Avenue on Thursday, August 18 around 8:30 p.m. to find a large, detached, wood-framed two-car garage fully engulfed in flames.
The heat from the fire was so intense that firefighters said it began to melt the siding on two of the adjacent homes and caused an adjacent wooden fence to catch on fire.
The roof of the garage was collapsing when crews arrived.
Firefighters used three handlines to suppress the fire in the garage and spray the adjacent homes to prevent further heat damage or fire spread.
Crews then checked the adjacent homes for any possible spread.
Despite severe damage to the garage, firefighters say they successfully prevented severe damage to the two adjacent homes.
No injuries were reported from this incident and the cause of the fire is under investigation by Syracuse Fire Investigators.
