1 dead after semi-truck and train collide in Kingsburg

KINGSBURG, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – The driver of a semi-truck has died after it collided with a train on Thursday on Sierra Street and Simpson Street in Kingsburg, close to the Highway 99 exit, according to officials.

The crash took place Thursday around 7:00 p.m. and resulted in the semi-truck catching on fire.

Video of the crash shows massive fire and plumes of smoke coming from the semi-truck.

“The train was traveling southbound through town and the truck was traveling west,” said Lt. Shaun Stephens with Kingsburg Police Department. “At this point, we don’t know what happened to make him go through the arms.”

The cause of the collision remains under investigation.

The driver of the semi-truck has not been officially identified.
