Southeastern Announces 2022-23 Schedule

SLU faces challenging nonconference slate before opening SLC play on New Year's Eve

HAMMOND, La. – A challenging nonconference slate followed by 18 Southland Conference contests makes up the 2022-23 Southeastern Louisiana University women's basketball schedule released Thursday.

Southeastern will look to continue its progress under sixth-year head coach Ayla Guzzardo, who has seen her team improve its winning percentage annually during her tenure. The Lady Lions have posted back-to-back winning seasons the last two years for the first time since the 1994-95 and 1995-96 campaigns.

SLU returns 10 letter winners from the 2021-22 roster that finished 16-11 overall, 10-4 in league play and advanced to the Southland Conference Tournament championship game for the first time in program history. Southeastern's wins in the quarterfinals and the semifinals were the first postseason triumphs for the Lady Lions since the 2021-22 season.

Southeastern opens the 2022-23 season with a Nov. 7 home contest versus LSU Alexandria. Dillard (Nov. 25) and Prairie View (Dec. 13) will also visit the University Center in nonconference play.

SLU's nonconference road contests include trips to Utah State (Nov. 11), Utah (Nov. 13), San Diego State (Nov. 15), South Alabama (Nov. 22), LSU (Nov. 29), Alabama (Dec. 20) and Jackson State (Nov. 23).

The league road slate sees Southeastern travel to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (Jan. 12), UIW (Jan. 14), New Orleans (Jan. 28), McNeese (Feb. 9), Northwestern State (Feb. 16), Texas A&M-Commerce (Feb. 18), Lamar (Feb. 23) and HBU (March 1).
