LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) – As hundreds of flood victims are facing denied FEMA applications a group of Lexington lawyers are heading to Letcher County Friday to help with the appeals process.
Dinsmore and Shohl Law Firm will be setting up a clinic at the Pine Mountain Grill in Whitesburg starting at 10 a.m. Friday.
Their core message to victims is to not give up if they have a denied application in hand. They said there is hope as the appeals process is known to be successful.
“The denials are … there’s way too many of them. It’s a bureaucratic form, it’s red tape, it’s technicalities and we just want to help people walk through those confusing forms and fill them out to the best of their abilities, as best anybody can, and hope for the best,” August Johannsen, attorney at Dinsmore and Shohl LLP
The lawyers are doing this for free. All they ask of applicants is that they bring is documentation, including pictures or proof of damages, insurance forms, settlements, quotes, or whatever paperwork you have.
