Countdown is over: Friday Night Football to kick off 2022 season

The 2022 high school football season begins Friday night, and the only season opener pitting two Henderson County teams against each other will be North Henderson at Hendersonville.

The 2022 high school football season kicks off Friday night, and all of the seven area teams in the Times-News' coverage area will be playing.

All games kick off at 7:30 p.m.

Hendersonville hosts North Henderson and will debut its new artificial turf field on its renovated campus. It will also be the debut for head coach Kirron Ward, who was a longtime assistant under Jim Sosebee. WHKP (1450 AM, 107.7 FM, WHKP.com) will air the game, with a pre-game show set for 7 p.m.

West Henderson will host East Rutherford, and it will be broadcast by WTZQ (1600 AM, 95.3 FM, WTZQ.com), beginning with a pre-game show at 7 p.m.

The other area season openers are Rosman at East Henderson, Pisgah at Brevard and Polk County at Newton-Conover.
