LeBron James just signed a massive deal with the Los Angeles Lakers but the Cleveland Cavaliers will always possess a very special record about the superstar.
On Wednesday it was announced that James had agreed to a two-year, $97.1 million contract extension with the purple and gold, which includes a player option for the 2024-25 season.
That is a gigantic deal for James and shows that, even at 37, he’s still one of the most prized players in the NBA.
In the end, James will play at least seven years with the Lakers.
That’s a long time but it still doesn’t overtake the Cavaliers.
He will have spent 11 years with the Cavaliers, 4 with the Miami Heat, and 7 with the Lakers if he hangs it up after this current contract extension ends.
So, Cleveland will always hold a special place in James’ heart and will take up a majority of his time in the NBA.
However, the chances of him coming home to the Cavaliers are very slim.

At the end of this latest contract, James will be close to 40 years old.
Those hoping that he would make another championship run with the Cavaliers are surely disappointed by his extension with LA because it means that he likely won’t be coming back to Cleveland.
In all honesty, most Cleveland followers agree that a 40-year-old James probably wouldn’t be the best idea, especially since the team is compiling a fantastic group of young men.
Instead, James will likely retire in Los Angeles.
But even though he most definitely won’t play in Cleveland again, the city and the team will always be a very vital part of his legacy, his career, and his life.
