Chris Young to headline Allen County Fair

LIMA — The Allen County Fair will be the place for country music fans when Chris Young hits the stage at 8 p.m. Saturday at the fair grandstands.

As a songwriter, Young has ten number one songs, including “Famous Friends,” “You,” “Tomorrow,” “Voices,” and “Gettin’ You Home.” His latest album, “Famous Friends (Deluxe Edition),” was released in June and includes 20 tracks featuring the songs “Famous Friends” with Kane Brown, “At the End of a Bar,” with Mitchell Tenpenny, “Raised on Country,” “Town Ain’t Big Enough” with Lauren Alaina, “Music Note” with Jimmie Allen and “Everybody Needs a Song,” with Old Dominion.

Young’s “Famous Friends” music video was filmed over two days in Nashville and features over 15,000 fans who were the first to hear it performed on a massive stage at 1st and Broadway. The song was later performed on NBC’s “Today with Hoda & Jenna,” “The Kelly Clarkson Show” and at the Academy of Country Music (ACM) Awards. “Famous Friends” won the Collaborative Video of the Year award at the 2021 CMT Music Awards.

Opening for Young will be BRELAND, a country/hip-hop crossover singer, songwriter and producer, whose debut single, “My Truck,” went platinum.

In terms of selecting concerts for the fair, country music fits the area’s demographic, is generally a family-friendly choice and also best meets the mission of the fairgrounds, explained Troy Elwer, manager of the Allen County Fair.

“When we go to select our artists, country artists rise to the top of the list,” he said.

Ticket prices start at $45 for grandstands and bleachers. Other ticket levels are $60 for the track, $70 for the party pit and $100 for the VIP pit. These prices do not include the $8 fair gate entry fee.

Tickets can be purchased at the fairgrounds’ Administration Office, by calling 419-228-7141, or online at https://bit.ly/3bYdvz8. Questions should be directed by email to [email protected].
