ORLANDO, Fla. — This election year, many school board races are engulfed in fights over cultural hot-button issues like gender education, textbooks and masks.

Now, all Central Florida school boards have made a national conservative watchlist, SchoolBoardWatchlist.org.

Offenses that can land a school board on the watchlist include:
- Adopting Critical Race Theory curriculum
- Requiring teachers to participate in discriminatory professional development disguised as “diversity training”
- Renaming schools because of their “racist” namesake
- Continuing to use COVID-19 as an excuse to maintain online learning
Sites have started popping up saying classrooms are under attack from “dangerous leftist agendas.”
School Board Watchlist was created by Charlie Kirk, the conservative head of Turning Point USA.

“School boards across the country hold a massive sway over the education of our children and the future of our country,” the website reads. “For too long, they have operated silently under the radar, with no organization holding them accountable for their actions.”
Gov. Ron DeSantis has endorsed school board candidates including here in Volusia, Flagler and Brevard counties.
