Special Olympics of Cambria County will be hosting it's 25th Annual Golf Tournament on Thursday, Sept. 1, in the Windber Country Club in order to fundraise for their local athletes.
They offer 9-year round sports to over 150 athletes and operate solely through the work of volunteers and donations.
Unfortunately, like so many other programs, their efforts were hindered by the covid-19 pandemic.
“The fundraising is for the athletes and during the last couple of years with Covid, it’s been limited," said Joe Ponchione, one of the Cambria County Special Olympics Volunteers. "We actually had the tournament last year but the kids were not able to attend, so we’re hoping this year that they’re able to attend.”
You can support the tournament by making a donation, choosing a sponsorship or even playing in the tournament.
If you'd like to mail a check you can make the check payable to "Cambria County Special Olympics," and mail it to "Cambria County Special Olympics, P.O. Box 1028 Johnstown, PA 15907."
